Our story
Once upon a time... La Corpo
It was in 1995 that the Corporation du Fort St-Jean (CFSJ) came into being, shortly after the closure of the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean)
Wanting to prevent the site from falling into oblivion and to ensure the maintenance of the vast real estate park, the Conseil Économique du Haut-Richelieu (CLD) reached an agreement with the federal government. The “Campus du Fort Saint-Jean” then became the site’s official manager. Its objective was to continue the educational vocation of the place.
Five years later, the Campus du Fort Saint-Jean and the CLD signed a new 25-year agreement with the Department of National Defence. The team worked to further market the site and its facilities to benefit a large number of people, including the local population.
The return of the military to the site in the 2000s shifted the Campus’s focus toward services for the Canadian Armed Forces, greatly increasing its logistical support to the stationed military units. With the reopening of the RMC Saint-Jean in 2008, the mission of the Corporation du Fort St-Jean expanded to include support for the training of officer cadets, a responsibility it continues to uphold with pride and dedication today.
